Are you wondering why your website isn’t ranking?
Perhaps you’ve read a few search engine optimization tips here and there and tried to follow the best practices you found online and yet your website is still not showing up on page 1 of search results in Google for the keywords you want to be found for. Don’t fret. You’re not alone.
Nine times out of ten, the reason your site is not appearing high in search results is because you do not have enough backlinks.
What Is A Backlink?
A backlink is literally a link on another website that points back to your site. Here is an example of a backlink in action:
I have another website where I write about the topic of Google Places Ranking; it explains how to get your website ranked high in Google’s local listings. Visit it at http://googleplaces-ranking.blogspot.com/.
In the example above, this site (mikemunterseo.com) is creating a backlink to another site I authored which gives tips and advice for getting your website to show up in Google’s local listings.
It’s a good, clean, quality backlink and it counts in Google’s eyes as a “vote” for the site.
But there’s an even better way to create a backlink to your site and that is by doing a keyword rich anchor text backlink. Let’s take a look at the same example with this kind of backlink:
I have another website where I write about the topic of Google Places Ranking; it explains how to get your website ranked high in Google’s local listings.
As you can see, in this example, the term “Google Places Ranking” is the keyword rich anchor text that is creating the backlink. I set it up this way because i want to rank for the keyword “google places ranking”. Create lots of backlinks in this way and your website will be ranking in no time. 🙂
So, if you’re savvy enough to go about creating your own backlinks on the internet, you can use this tip to begin getting your website ranked higher in Google.
